During the second half of 2025, the Smart Electrical Grids Group (GREI) ran the first edition of its Training Course for Virtual Intelligent Systems Developers applied to Smart Grid Education. It’s an Extension project in course format, launched together with UFC’s Pro-Rectory of Extension (PREX), with nationally valid certification.
Course structure
The course, coordinated by Prof. Raimundo Furtado Sampaio, was offered remotely via Google Classroom, with undergraduate and graduate students supporting as instructors across its modules, including “Introduction to Electrical Power Systems and Electrical Studies” (20h) and “Protection, Automation and Control”.
This course was a unique opportunity for students and professionals looking to go deeper into innovative technologies applied to smart electrical grids. Throughout the program, students had access to theoretical and practical content, exploring virtual intelligent systems and preparing for the challenges of the future energy sector.
Recognizing the diversity of participants’ needs, the course offered flexibility. With a total workload of up to 76 hours, students could personalize their experience:
- 64 hours of core theoretical modules;
- 12 optional hours of hands-on activities in our virtual laboratories.
At the end of each completed mini-course, participants receive a nationally valid completion certificate, officially issued by PREX.
